Week Four Summary – 1000lb Goal – 12/23/18 – 12/29/18

Bench: 245 – 5×5Squat: 265 – 5×5Deadlift: 250 – 1×5 Total: 760 I started feeling the aches and pains of heavier weight this week. I think it’s time to adjust. I’ve been doing squats 3x a week at 5×5 and with this much weight it’s really starting to wear on my old bones. During the summer when I got up over 800 total with a weak deadlift, I was only squatting and benching once per week. I think it’s time

Week Three Summary – Run Goal – 12/16/18 – 12/22/18

This run is embarrassing to post.. I used to run 10min miles on a good day and now it’s everything I can do to get one good 14min mile. Anyway, gotta start somewhere. There are a couple of pretty steep hills in the run below, but it’s really no excuse for that horrific time. I was thinking afterward though, I remember going by a rule the last time around that I’d pick up 1min in time for every 10lbs lost.

Week Three Summary – 1000lb Goal – 12/16/18 – 12/22/18

Bench: 235 – 5×5Squat: 255 – 5×5Deadlift: 245 – 1×5 Total: 735 Since I’ve been back into the 5×5 workouts, the squats have consistently worn my back out by the 5th set, to the point where I need to sit for a couple of minutes to keep from cramping up. That seems to have stopped this week. I noticed this after Friday’s squats and decided I’d load up the deadlifts a bit, we took a 10lb jump on Friday instead

Week Three Summary – IRA Goal – 12/16/18 – 12/22/18

Last week I setup these 3 objectives for the week: 1.) Understand the entry criteria for an iron butterfly. 2.) Finish education track #3 3.) Build something in XL for basic position tracking. I got buried in work this week and really didn’t get much done in terms of furthering education. Which means objective #1 and #2 didn’t happen. #3 didn’t happen either but not because I didn’t try. I ended up finding everything I needed inside of the TOS platform.

Week Three Summary – Weight Goal – 12/16/18 – 12/22/18

Yeah, so not a great week. I realized on Wednesday that by the time Christmas rolls around that I’d want to have some beer. So why not start early?? And that’s how it happened, a 17 day streak comes to an end. I had piles of rationalizations running through my head and they won. The good news I guess is that I’ve managed to stay in ketosis and I did drop 1lb this week, but I was down close to

Week Two Summary – IRA Goal – 12/9/18 – 12/15/18

Out of the four goals for this 31 week challenge, I think this one is going to be the most dynamic.  At the end of last week I was set on finishing track 3 at optionalpha.com.  That didn’t happen.  It didn’t happen because I was letting the knowledge need of each day direct what I would learn.  I think this served me well this week. I became and “Elite” member at optionalpha.com this week.  With that comes real time access

Week Two Summary – Run Goal – 12/9/18 – 12/15/18

I mentioned last week that we weren’t starting the Run Goal until this week.  It’s tough getting into ketosis and getting cardio in the first week.  I’m old and I just don’t enjoy the pain that much anymore.  That being said, we had 3 runs scheduled this week and we got all 3 of them done.  I say 3 runs but I’m not sure what I did this week any runner would actually consider “running”.  Gotta start somewhere.   So far

Week Two Summary – 1000lb Goal – 12/9/18 – 12/15/18

1000lb Goal: Bench: 225 – 5×5Squat: 240 – 5×5Deadlift: 225 – 1×5 Total: 690 Things went according to plan this week.  Squats happened 3x, M,W,F and resulted in a 15lb gain as we go up 5lbs for each successful 5×5.  Bench happened twice and I cheated on Deadlifts as I was feeling a bit saucy and jumped the weight by 10lbs. Back in August I hit a high of around 330lbs on the squats.  Because of this, I’m guessing I’ll

Week Two Summary – Weight Goal – 12/9/18 – 12/15/18

This was a difficult week.  I added a pound since last Saturday’s reading.  I have a lot of reasons as to why that might have happened and I’m sure it’s justified but I hate not seeing some progress week to week.  I’m backing off of supplementation for a while.  It just doesn’t seem necessary at this point and I’m pretty sure the protein supplementation knocked me out of ketosis for a day this week.  Since I’ve stopped the creatine, glutamine
